Biography
Paul Brewer (Ph.D., University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, 1999) is a Professor in the Department of Communication. His research interests include political communication, public opinion, and science communication. He is particularly interested in how messages in traditional news, entertainment media, and social media shape public opinion about policy issues and public perceptions of science. He is the author of Value War: Public Opinion and the Politics of Gay Rights (Rowman & Littlefield, 2008). His research has also appeared in numerous scholarly journals, including the International Journal of Press/Politics, the Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media, Mass Communication and Society, Political Communication, Public Opinion Quarterly, Public Understanding of Science, and Science Communication.
