The University of Delaware Department of Communication offers two on-site graduate programs: a Ph.D. in Communication and a Master of Arts in Communication.
In both programs, tomorrow's communication educators and leaders are mentored by highly acclaimed, award-winning faculty engaged in research on the frontiers of the discipline. Our programs provide:
Flexibility to design your own focused program of study, within a research- and theory- based communication science curriculum
Strong faculty expertise in health, interpersonal, media and political communication
Individualized mentoring through the use of Individual Development Plans
Assistantships with training and support as you gain real-world teaching experience. Tuition remission and stipends are provided.
Regular opportunities to collaborate with faculty on research for publication and to develop your own research agenda
Conference opportunities for networking and professional presentations
A dynamic and collegial environment of talented peers
Our graduate faculty advisors actively engage MA and Ph.D. students in research from the first semester, and support students in developing and publishing their own projects of interest as they progress through the program. Our faculty research expertise is especially strong in the areas of interpersonal, media, political, and health communication.
