Communication majors graduating this May will have two separate ceremonies: Commencement and Convocation. Commencement is the graduation ceremony for ALL University of Delaware graduates held at 9:00 am on Saturday, May 26 in the Delaware Stadium. Additional information is available on the following website: https://sites.udel.edu/commencement. Please refer to this website for questions regarding academic regalia, lodging, parking, transportation, and so on.
The second ceremony for our majors is Convocation. At this event, our graduating COMMUNICATION MAJORS will have an exclusive ceremony in CLAYTON HALL, Room 101 A/B beginning promptly at 12:30 p.m. on FRIDAY, May 25. This ceremony takes approximately one hour. Please note that our major's Convocation ceremony is the day before the Commencement ceremony.
Students will not receive an "official" diploma at our ceremony, but will walk across the stage and be individually recognized. Students do NOT need to notify the Department of Communication if they are participating in our event.
Please plan to arrive at Clayton Hall between 12:00 and 12:15 p.m., dressed in your regalia. Upon arrival, Communication faculty will direct graduating students on where to gather as a group so that they may enter room 101 A/B in a ceremonial procession. Guests should proceed to room 101 and claim a seat.
Please tell family and friends attending the ceremony that room 101 will open at 11:45 a.m. for guest seating. We will NOT be giving out tickets or passes, but we ask each graduate to limit their guest number to FOUR. Some graduates may have a very large family and want to exceed this number, but it is very important that everyone limit their guest number to four or less.
If you have a guest in need of special accommodations (wheelchair, walker) please email firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP and let us know. We will have designated seating available, and if you tell us the exact number of guests you will be having, we will do our best to seat everyone in your group together.
We hope this information is helpful. Please contact our office at (302) 831-8041 with any questions regarding this email message.
Congratulations on your success! We look forward to seeing you at the ceremony.
